Another season over

Football finished on Saturday. Hawthorn (the Hawks) are this year's premiers. They beat Geelong (the Cats) by 26 points. This was only the Cats' second loss for the year. Both teams clobbered the Saints in the finals series - my boys have a lot of work to do if they really want to match it with the top teams next year.

Meanwhile, it rained pretty heavily overnight so I'm off to see if I've got any decent raindrop pics.....

Friday Fill-ins

1. The days getting longer and warmer are some of the things I'm most looking forward to in October.

2. Sometimes I wish I'd made different choices.

3. Jimmy Page is still playing and that's why there is a saying, "never say never"!

4. When I'm down, I tend to drink too much.

5. MJ Arcadia Bookshop is where you'll find me most often.

6. A rainy day is good for reading.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to not much, tomorrow my plans include work and then I'll probably watch the Grand Final, even though I don't care about either of the teams and Sunday, I want to take it as it comes!

Saturday Photo Hunt: The road goes ever on and on

This week's theme is "road". Here's a collaboration I did with Janet earlier in the year.

The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errnds meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

E.T. Phone Home.......

So, my first 365 days project has finished. Today is day 365. 365 photos of a phone - well, three phones actually seeing as I lost THE Phone with only 15 days to go. That was a major disaster. The positive side to that is that I now have a phone which actually works properly as a phone. So it wasn't all bad I guess. Still, I would have preferred to finish the project with the original. Nevermind.

Times have changed

Just heard a guy on the radio promoting his new record/CD. "Just a little 7 track EP." It occurred to me that, back in the vinyl day, 7 or 8 tracks made up a whole album and an EP was never more than 4 tracks.

Oooh oooh oooh

Neil Young is coming to town!

1. If I was to walk into your life, there's a fair chance you might not even notice.

2. Catch a bright star and place it on your forehead. Say a few spells and baby there you go. Catch a black cat and you sit it on your shoulder. And in the morning you'll know all you know.

3. And you can send me flowers.

4. Drunk myself blind to the sound of old T-Rex but I'm dealing with a memory that never forgets.

Got a joke?

Go over to the mad potter's blog and add it to the list. Must be suitable for kids.

Speaking of jokes....

A woman gave her husband a sealed box and told him not to open it until she was dead. The husband put the box in his wardrobe for safe keeping but couldn't stop thinking about it and what it might contain.
He kept taking the box out of the wardrobe and staring at it. Many times he started to open it but remembered his wife's instructions and put it back.
Finally, after weeks of this he weakened and decided to open the box.
Inside were half a dozen eggs and a hundred thousand dollars.
He put the box away again but, again, it preyed on his mind.
After another couple of weeks he decided to speak to his wife about it.
He told her that he couldn't stand it any longer and had opened the box. "Why are there half a dozen eggs in the box?"
She answered, "Each egg represents a time I was unfaithful to you."
"And what about the hundred thousand dollars?" he asked.
"Every time I got to a dozen eggs I sold them."

Good news and bad news

Good: Saints needed to beat Essendon by 94 points to claim 4th spot on the ladder. They walloped the Bombers 147 points to 39. So they finished 4th at the end of the home and away season. It's important to be in the top 4 for the finals as these teams now have a double chance. The top 8 play finals but it's a complicated system. Teams 5 to 8 play off (5 V 8, 6 V 7) and the two losing teams are out of it - eliminated. The top 4 play (1 V 4, 2 V 3)but the losers get a second chance the following week - play the winners of the 5 V 8, 6 V 7 games. I think.
Anyway, the Saints will play Geelong next week. Geelong are clear favourites to win the premiership again this year and have hardly been beaten all season. Just as well we get the second chance! Still, it's finals and you never know what could happen....
Go Saints!!!!
Bad: Phone is lost.
